I haven’t written an update in a while as I have been busy with many other projects and the holidays these past two weeks. So far I have been working behind the scenes on theBillionLink.com, adding some plug ins to make the site work more efficiently and user friendly. So far theBillionLink.com has got 11 backlinks. In total there are about 66 links so far, but only 11 of those are the do follow links and the rest are no follow.

Let me just take a minute and explain what a do and no follow links are for those of you who are not familiar.

Do Follow Link

A do follow link is a regular link that gets normally indexed by the search engines and helps improve the ranking of the site that the link is pointing to. These are the most desirable links and having many of them from a variety of different sites helps improve the target’s site SEO (search engine optimization) greatly and achieve a higher page rank.

No Follow Link

A no follow link is a link with HTML attribute value that is used to instruct search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. Basically all the no follow links that lead to a certain website will not help improve its ranking in the major search engines, nor do they detriment it. The no follow links are used to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place.

The reason why I’ve got so many no follow links is because I constantly publish new articles on a site called Qassia (intelligence search engine) in order to create do follow links for my other sites and at the end I add a no follow link for this site. So far I’ve added the no follow link to 54 articles. Since the no follow links do not cause any harm to the site’s ranking I figured it would be no big deal and the people who read my articles can always visit theBillionLink.com to see what its all about.

The 11 do follow backlinks that this site has so far have been great and increased the popularity quiet a bit. I would like to extend another thank you to all those that are helping in this huge project and placed the do follow links to the Billion Link on their sites. The traffic has been decent so far, around 20 unique visitors per day, which is not all that bad considering I’ve done 0 advertising at this point. I think next week I’ll do some advertising by submitting this site to some high PR directories and social bookmarking sites to see if that will drive more traffic and increase the popularity of the site. Also I just updated the faq and about pages by adding some more commonly asked questions and a short bio about myself so feel free to take a look.

A couple of days ago theBillionLink.com got its very first backlink. The first backlink comes from an interesting, newly created blog called Live The Life | Newbies Guide To Making Money Online. The Live The Life blog discusses a variety of different ways on how to successfully make money online and reviews a plethora of programs that anyone can join in order to generate some income. The author also points out the mistakes he made while trying to make money online in order to help the readers of this blog avoid these same mistakes. I’m sure as this blog grows in popularity the author will review and warn his readers about certain programs that are scams and point the readers in the right direction when joining any particular money making program. Today I spent some time adding more frequently asked questions and just improving the overall design of the site.

Only 4 people so far visited the site since the official launch. There are still 0 inbound links. I think I will give it a few more days and then do some marketing and advertising to start getting the name out about this site.
